This is dedicated to the crackas that was down from day one…

Sorry, was listening to Dr Dre during this post. 🙂

Yesterday I’m on my way home from my parents house, and try to lower the driver’s side window in my VW GTI…  I hear a pop, and the window won’t go down.  This happened once before, I tried to lower the window when it was frozen, and it detached the glass from the carrier for the power window regulator.  I managed to finagle it back on that time.  This time, I’m driving and trying to do the same, then SHWOOMP, the glass falls completely into the door.

Now it’s 7pm, rain possible, and I have no drivers side window.

Dig out the Haynes manual, I have the door apart in about 20 minutes, the trick was to get the glass back up, tape it in place, raise the carrier up to meet the glass, then lower it to where there are 2 access holes for adjustment.  This was the cool part – I loosen the bolt, push the mount up onto the glass a bit, then tighten it back down.  Did that on the front and rear bolt – window works like new.

Didn’t find myself cursing or screaming either, like when I was trying to work on the door of my ’89 Chevy pickup… 🙂

Another win for the new supermarket…

Filled the car up at Sunoco in Warwick last night, 12 gallons of 93 octane only cost me $2.97 per gallon when everyone else had to pay $3.17.  It’s one of the perks of using the ‘advantedge’ card from Price Chopper, for every $50 you spend in the store, they knock $.10 off a gallon of gas at the local station.  It’s cumulative too, I spent $100, they knocked $.20 off.  I think it goes as high as $.30.  Still, for a busy family, that’s knocking the price of gas down to a level that actually competes with the stations just across the border in Jersey.  It’s keeping money in the town, and helping local businesses even further, which is something I am always for.

Funny sidenote, had to go to Shoprite on Sunday, instead of scanning my price plus card I scanned my advantedge card – and got the same exact discounts.

There are still things I will specifically go to Shoprite for… but that list is getting shorter.

Beyond AWESOME.

Whitesnake Zinfandel

I believe I just may order a case. 🙂

“Good thing it’s Whitesnake and not Great White: I wouldn’t want to drink anything that ignites within ten feet of an open flame.”

Done with satellite.

I’ve had Sirius for a few years now.  Last night I grew tired of the talking, the ads, and the sub-par audio quality, so I plugged in my iphone, started Pandora, and instantly had CD quality music that I wanted to listen to, with minimal interruptions.  What happened to Satellite?  It was so cool, now it’s 4 BILLION dollars in debt, the audio quality is easily surpassed by terrestrial FM, and they’re charging more than ever.  I’m going to cancel and invest the money I would be spending on Sirius on a new smartphone, seems to be the better investment.

Congressman assaults American for asking a simple question…

Congressman assaults American for asking a simple question…

Caught this via Facebook this morning and had to share it.  Summary of the video, an unidentified young person with a cellphone type video camera asks a Democrat congressman if he fully supports Obama’s agenda.  Simple question, anyone can ask it of him.  His response?  Immediately ask for the identity of the person asking and assault them physically.  It’s all on video, start to finish.  I’d say this guy’s career needs to end, and he needs to get sued in civil court for everything he’s worth.

I don’t expect it to get big coverage, as he is a Democrat after all.

Conserve this, ass.

Get into the office today, and the resident slacker (guy spends 15-20 minutes of each hour walking around the building and parking lot) says to me “Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo I noticed that eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevery moooooooooooooooooooooooooooooorning my PC is onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.”  “Yea? So?” “Well that’s an awful waste of electricity.” (coming from the guy who wastes at least 2-3 hours per day walking around the office).  So I respond with silence, every once and awhile someone makes a resource comment and I’ve learned I’m better off biting my tongue than attempting to school them.

“Al Gore must be crying.”

“The computers turn off at 10, on at 6, so that by the time you get in it is ready for work, meaning you won’t have to walk around for 20 minutes waiting for it to start.”

Don’t even get me started on the woman who works once a week and insists on shutting off every light that she can, thinking that a few flourescent bulbs are the difference between energy independence and dooming us all to an oil soaked hell.   I’ve got 2 words for every conservationist out there: Gray Davis.

Yeah, shut the fuck up, thanks. 🙂

Whoops…

If you’ve tried to view my page through one of the Facebook links, and only got a comment page, its because the last theme I used did not play well with Firefox.  It has been resolved now, so you can see my glory in full digital color again! 🙂

What if???

If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how he inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes?
If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan’s holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky?
If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia , would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent “Austrian language,” would you have brushed it off as a  minor slip?
If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current in their income taxes, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had stated that there were 57 states in the United States , would you have said that he is clueless?
If George W. Bush would have flown all the way to Denmark to make a five minute speech about how the Olympics would benefit him walking out his front door in Texas , would you have thought he was a self important, conceited, egotistical idiot?
If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to “Cinco de Cuatro” in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the 5th of May (Cinco de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have winced in embarrassment?
If George W. Bush had mis-spelled the word “advice” would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and potatoe as proof of what a dunce he is?
If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he’s a hypocrite?
If George W. Bush’s administration had okayed Air Force One flying low  over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what happened on 9-11?
If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans, would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?
If George W. Bush had created the position of 32 Czars who report directly to him, bypassing the House and Senate on much of what is happening in America , would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?
If George W Bush had proposed to double the national debt (which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate) in one year, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?
So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive? Can’t think of anything? Don’t worry. He did all this, and more, in his first year as president — so you’ll have three years to come up with an answer.

Much better…

I’ve been putting off renewing my contact prescription, I don’t really have or want to spend the $350 I’ll need for toric lenses and another $75 for the prescription, so I’ve been wearing my glasses again.

That’s all fine and dandy, except for when it is sunny outside. I picked up a pair of polarized clip-ons which did the job alright, but as is the case with sunglasses – they got lost.  Plus, they weren’t great on the bike because they allowed plenty of glare around the edges…  Picked up a smoked face shield today at CycleMotion in Middletown, $25 – and it’s fantastic.  Not sure I’m going to enjoy using it at night, but my entire field of vision is comfortably dim now. 🙂

Eventually I’m going to either get laser eye surgery, or a new set of contacts – in the mean time I’m slumming it just fine! lol

7 Years.

It’s pretty crazy when I think about it, but as of today, June 10th, 2010 – I have been at the same job for 7 years.  7 years, 5 relationships, 4 cars, 2 apartments, 1 major downsizing – 1 job.

They don’t really acknowledge things here like anniversaries, but I still remember my first day – the sheer PANIC involved with actually being the top computer guy at a company.  The panic faded, I eventually dove in head first and made it my own…  now here I am, I have my own assistant (I’m a BOSS!), getting married, have 2 wonderful step-kids, and I can only imagine what is coming next. 🙂
